Who’s Horrible In History

Maisy’s review of: Who’s Horrible In History
Author: Terry Deary
Genre: Non-Fiction

This book is about facts from long ago, that you may not have learned in school because they are quite horrid. Although they are horrid, they are very funny and interesting. I recommend this book to people who can stand horrible things. I like this book because it’s educational but hilarious at the same time. This book is also a series on Netflix but I prefer reading it. I like the way the contents page is designed because it uses alliteration. This builds tension and hooks the reader in by making them want to read on. I also like how the pages are set out because it has fun facts and top tips. Also, it has cartoon pictures with funny speech and thought bubbles.

Grandpa’s Great Escape

Maisy’s review of: Grandpa’s Great Escape
Author: David Walliams
Genre: Fiction

My book is about a boy named Jack who has a grandpa that is a bit mad and thinks he is still in World War 2. He gets put in a nursing home with evil and mean nurses. He got put in the nursing home because he kept going to high places. I liked this book because it was really funny and it made me want to do more things with my Grandad and Grandma. Grandpa always told his grandson stories of his adventures in the Royal Air Force all those years ago. Since Grandpa told his Grandson a lot about when he was in the Air Force, he began living them out. In his mind he was a dashing, young pilot behind the controls of his Spitfire fighter plane.
