As part of our Home Learning, Freya has made an experiment where you have to find the secret light code. She spent some time with her grandfather this weekend and they created, built and wrote a whole experiment for Year 4 to solve.
What a fantastic start to this half term’s new Home Learning! Well done Freya!
Poppy has become a local celebrity as her work for charity has been recognised by the Wigan Observer. She decided to make santa pants and fill them with lots of chocolate goodies! She wanted to raise money for the Wigan and Leigh Hospice as they cared for her grandad for 14 weeks. Poppy has shown great bravery and selflessness and we are so proud of her here at Lever House.
The santa pants go on sale at Lindsey Leisure Centre on the 18th November.
Well done Poppy!
Another brilliant week of making, researching and writing!
Year 4 have travelled back in time today! All the way back to the Stone Age. They spent the morning making a Stone Age necklace to impress their fellow cavemen and women! They also made some weapons to protect themselves against prehistoric predators!
In the afternoon, the rain stayed away and our hunter-gatherers explored the school grounds for nuts and berries (whilst also using their orientation skills). They also whittled tools and built shelters to protect them from the blustery autumn weather. To finish, we had a campfire and toasted bread, spreading on a delicious berry compote!
It has been a brilliant, creative and very muddy day!
Another fantastic week of Home Learning!
The children produced some fantastic pieces of work for the first Home Learning projects. Keep it up Year 4!
Hello and welcome to the Year 4 blog page. What a busy couple of weeks! I hope you all had a lovely summer holiday.
The children have settled well into Year 4 and are working really hard. This half term, our Topic is Caves, Fire and Tools! We will be learning all about the Stone Age to the Iron Age.
Important information for Year 4 parents/guardians.
PE days: Monday and Thursday
Home Reading: Please encourage your child to read every day, as well as also listening to them read. When they have finished a book, we ask them to complete a book review either in their green books or on the blog, or choose a task from their red books. These books will be checked every Tuesday. If your child finishes their book before Tuesday, they can choose a new one from the Home Reading section in school at any time.
Home Learning: See the Home Learning tab at the top of the blog for more information.
Spellings: Spellings can now be found on the blog under the Home Learning tab. Every Friday, your child will be tested on their spellings for the appropriate week, plus some from previous weeks. Letter formation and the use of capital letters (when appropriate) is really important with the spellings to reinforce other aspects of Literacy we will be working on at school.
Brass Lessons: This year, your child has the fantastic opportunity to learn to play a brass instrument. Their brass lesson will take place every Friday.
Swimming Lessons: After the Easter Holidays, your child will begin swimming lessons. More information about this will be provided nearer the time.
I look forward to meeting you on ‘Meet the Teacher day’ next Tuesday.
